I first became involved with fish during the spring of 1993 when I started with an inside aquarium that sat on the kitchen bench. I visited the local Koi and Goldfish farm with my parents just after they had built a small pond in their backyard, and then like many Koi owners this is where my Koi appreciation began. As a novice I decided that a good foundation was to find out as much as I could about the History of Koi.
Since then I became more involved in understanding and learning about koi, to the point where I constructed my own pond in my own backyard. Over the past few years I have expanded my knowledge regarding the complete Koi / Pond environment which has lead to me making several changes to the ponds filtration system and the garden around the pond.
Having kept Koi for this period of time, we have come to realise that despite the fact that Koi are extremely hardy fish, particular attention must be paid to the Health of the Koi. We found knowing a little about Koi Anatomy assisted in maintaining healthy fish and the successful diagnosis / treatment of the various Koi Ailments.
During the last half of 1996 and the first half of 1997 we have started to spend more time becoming more familiar with the Koi, to a point where we have started hand feeding some of the more confident Koi. We hope to start breeding selected
To help understand the extensive phrases and terms used regarding koi, we have started to compile a Koi Terminology section which we hope will assist you. If you have any koi terminology that you feel should be added to our list, please feel free to E-mail : andrew or jackie

As we progress with the construction of the new fish pond we will update our web pages with the details. We have also included a picture gallery with pictures at each stage as we go.
